Aww. Hey. Flip the laptop over, figure out where the HD is located (remove the screw or whatever holds it in), undock it... then stick it in a ziplock bag and put it in the freezer for an hour.
If the bearings were going, and even if something on the HD's board got cracked, the cold will tighten anything lose and or broke. Really hope this helps - you should have enough time to get out your stuff before it gets hot and screws up again... you can repeat the process.
Maybe it's time to find a cheap inkjet printer or some plastic discs to do back ups :(
